Curriculum

National Public School – Jalahalli has a unique approach to academics which amalgamates the CBSE curriculum with a modern, holistic and an integrated system of education. National Public School – Jalahalli offers two exciting Early Years Learning programmes, the Montessori and Kindergarten for children between ages 3 and 6.

An amalgamated CBSE curriculum is offered from Grades I-VIII. While the curriculum is geared essentially to the needs of the students in the primary and middle schools, the focus in the secondary school is on achieving important, externally recognized standards.

The curriculum encompasses core subjects i.e., English, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies and Languages in addition to subjects like Computer Science, Art, Yoga, Music, Dance, Drama and Physical education. Teachers who are specialized in particular fields provide instruction and guidance to the particular group. Language options include English, French, Sanskrit, Hindi and Kannada. These languages would be offered when there are a minimum number of students to make it feasible.

Early Years Learning

At NPS, there are two parallel streams of the Early Learning Program, both are for children in the age groups of 3 to 5.

  • The Montessori Program
  • The Kindergarten Program

Montessori programme

The Montessori programme, a three-year course offered to children aged 3 to 5 years, is based onconventional Montessori principles of multi-sensory and sequential learning concepts.

Uniquely built equipment and special learningresource provide interesting and valuable learning opportunities for children at a self-directed pace. It incorporates the vertical integration of 3, 4and 5-year-olds in one environment.

Admission Criteria:

  • 2 Years 10 months – 3 Years 10 Months of age, into Montessori 1
  • 3 Years 11 Months – 4 Years 10 Months of age, into Montessori 2
  • 4 Years 11 Months – 5 Years 10 Months of age, into Montessori 3

Kindergarten programme

The Kindergarten programme is for a3-year duration and is offered to students at 3 to 5 years of age. The three entry points in to the Kindergarten are 3 years of age, into Pre-Kindergarten, 4 years of age, into Lower Kindergarten or 5 years of age, into Upper Kindergarten. A large number of carefully designed, hands-on interactive learning experiences build a strong academic foundation in children in the Kindergarten programme.

Both the curriculums for Early Years has been extensively researched and developed by NPS Educational Institutions.

Primary Years Programme

The Primary Years cater to students from Grades I to V. The class sizes are restricted to only 25 to 30 students, ensuring individual attention to each child. The curriculum is broad based with emphasis on the core subjects –Mathematics, Social Studies, Science,English and II Language. Students are engaged in experiential learning through a variety of resources in order to develop the appropriate knowledge and skill levels. Art, Music, Drama and physical Education are additional curricular offerings for all students.

Middle Years Programme

At Grade VI-VIII, the programme is designed as a Pre-CBSE foundation level programme in which several of the skills stressed in the CBSE are developed early. The academic programme promotes breadth of study, that is invaluable to students as they prepare for Grades IX and X. There are many enrichment activities including outbound field trips, guest lectures and exchanges with other reputed Schools.

Equipped for Tomorrow:

LABS – There are labs spread over more than 3500 Sq. Ft. area. These are fully equipped to meet the curriculum requirements for practical’s in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Geography and History.

Resource Room:

The resource room will have a wide range of CDs and activity materials that help students have a visual impact of what they learn in class.

Counselling:

Counselling service is available for the entire student body. Students will be referred by a parent, teacher or the School Principal.

Classrooms:

Classrooms are designed such that every student gets the teacher's maximum individual attention. Each class room has an area of 600 Sq. Ft with large windows for ventilation.Carefully selected lights and fans ensure ergonomic physical comfort for learning. The huge permanent board is placed at a vantage point for viewing.

All rooms have bulletin boards to display and encourage creative, informative and academic endeavours of the learners. Walnut-wood shelves provide enough space for books, library books, learner-made objects and models.

Senior classrooms will have white boards and stands for flip charts. The strength of each class is kept at a manageable level and the comfortable furniture adds to the ambience of the classroom.

Natural Talents:

At NPS Jalahalli,we offer a wide variety of activities for students to explore their fields of interest. Students can choose from a variety of activities from the areas of music, drama, art and sports that include football, basketball, cricket, badminton, gymnastics, aerobics, table-tennis, volleyball and many more.

Smart Class Implementation

The classrooms are smart class enabled, equipped with the state-of-the art smart class Digital Teaching System, the first of its kind with integrated computer, interactive white board, UPS and a green chalk board, a short throw projection system, all operating with a one touch functional control switch panel.

Audio Visual Room:

There will be an AV room which will be used by the faculty and students to make presentations.

This room will also provide a grand ambience for small group discussion with parents, students, teachers and guest lecturers for workshops.

Computer Department:

Computer Education is part of the curriculum from grade 1 to 10. Here, emphasis is on concept formation rather than merely providing information. The School has a Cyber lab with state-of-the-art computers.

Auditorium:

With a capacity of over 500 seats, the venue will be used for music, plays and addresses by eminent guest speakers and for major School functions.

School Expectations:

For all working days, the school places stress on students wearing the school uniform. The uniform must adhere to the school's specified pattern and colour. For games, sports and special events, there are various uniforms.

Attendance at NPS is a matter of considerable significance. The Principal should be informed of absence for any cause and the letter of leave should be produced on the day of return. Circumspect behaviour from students is expected at all times. Senior students must be role models to the younger students. Failure to behave with decorum may result in severe disciplinary action.

All examinations and tests must be attempted throughout the academic year.

Health care centre:

The health care centre is the place students go to when they are in need of any kind of first aid. It is well equipped with medical requirements. A senior nursing personnel will be present during School hours.The health care centre is planned and designed for an ambulance to reach its doorstep in case of an emergency.

A renowned bus operator will take care of bus services to and from School to all parts of Bangalore.
